Fantasy Lover was way too much romance for my taste. The characters had overactive hormones and that distracted from the story. It wasn't at all what I'd hoped it would be, however it wasn't horrible. I was just expecting less mush and more plot. Dark-Hunter as the series title made me think it would be an intriguing plot, but it was a little fluffy. I found myself skipping through a lot of the extra lust to get back to the actual story.

I will give the next book in this series a try... eventually.

Darkfever by Karen Marie Moning

I considered not finishing the book several times as I was reading. I think it could have been a short story once all the blah blah blah was removed. I forced myself to keep reading hoping it would get better. My main problem with it was the rambling in first person. I just wanted to stick to the story. I also agree with other reviewers regarding the use of "Little did I know"...,etc. Why bother to say that? Just let me figure that out within the story. In the end, I felt like those were just a poor choice of teaser to string me along, because I didn't find out what Mac meant by any of those comments. Maybe I missed something, but I was expecting so much more.

I also agree with other reviewers that even though this is a series, each book should be able to stand alone. I felt cheated in the end. It is possible to have a cliffhanger and a full story in one book and leave the reader with satisfaction along with a feeling of anticipation at the same time.

Secret Life of a Vampire by Kerrelyn Sparks

I really like Kerrelyn's take on the Vampire world/community, and this is another great book (which I devoured in one day) in the series. I found myself laughing out loud several times, especially during the ring/panty incident. A very good read! The verbal play between Jack and "Butch" was great fun.

The Accidental Vampire by Lynsay Sands

Of the books in this series that I've read, this one was different from the others up to this point. It was light, quirky and fun, but a good read after I was able to accept where the story was going.

I was very tempted to skip the beginning half of the book in order to get past Victor and DJ actually understanding why Elvi was the way she was and doing what she was doing, but forced myself to follow the story as the author intended. There was nothing wrong with the beginning, it's just that I don't have patience when I know what's going on but the characters don't; it drives me crazy.

I'm anxious to read the rest of the series to see if there are new twists from what have seemed to be the norm in this series.
